Oh, those 90s. Strange, wonderful and at the same time, the brightest. There was a shortage, there was a lack of money, but some things brought indescribable joy and delight.
Let's start small. and finish with the coolest gadgets.
1. "Cheerful chef"
The beginning of the 90s. I'm 7 years old. I got such a game, Electronics IM-04, which I called "TV set". It was called "Cheerful Chef" and was created by Soviet engineers based on the development of the Japanese - Nintendo FP-24 Chef.
The fate of this console turned out to be sad - one fine day, I could not score the coveted 999 points, got angry and smashed this gadget on the corner of the bed. I still remember this moment, although I was 7 years old.
A little later, Tetris appeared, but for some reason it no longer aroused such delight as the "TV set". By the way, we all were waiting for a cartoon that was supposed to appear after passing, but it was not - this can be seen by filling the display with liquid crystals, but there was hope!
2. Radio receiver and player
The very first was Elektronika-304, I remember walking with him in the yard. But a portable player added a bit of coolness to the image of a child from the 90s:
It was small, it had a flashlight, and most importantly, it could catch FM - you could listen to Europa Plus!
A little later, the player appeared. It has survived to this day:
In general, the cassette player was one of the iconic symbols of any teenager in the 90s. I had several of them. The coolest models had a primitive LCD display, radio, auto reverse and even the ability to record a conversation! True, there was no microphone in the kit, but I assembled mine from headphones. By the way, when the players broke, I assembled a listening device and even a metal detector from them (slightly changing the circuit). Then, of course, Tamagotchi appeared, but among the guys they were somehow not appreciated.
3. Pepsi, pager, MTV!
Remember? Advertising on the MTV channel! Wearing a pager on your belt, it was +100 to cool! The pager itself appeared later (in the late 90s), but before that +10 was added to the coolness of the "pager watch" that I wore on my belt.
Nobody knew why the watch was for a teenager from the 90s, but it looks like a pager! Later, I already had a one-liner from Motorola, but alas, it did not survive and did not add to me the cherished one to coolness for the reason that it was already morally obsolete: many already had 3 and 4 lowercase pagers.
Well, the cherry on the cake already at the end of the 90s was a Motorola TAC-250 cell phone (pictured on the right). True, I could not chat on it... Is that the first 3 seconds of the guard interval. How much could you say in those 3 seconds? Lots of!
Then everything was more boring: there were more different gadgets and no one will surprise anyone with a huge brick-phone, which is attached to a belt or a pager.
